To the 96

“Football's not a matter of life and death ... it's more important than that..." Bill Shankly, famous quote was never so right.
Yesterday after the reports about what really happen in Hillsborough disaster emphasis the true meaning of this sentence. Honour, integrity, loyalty, truth.
These values transcend life and death it self.
What as done to blame the Liverpool supporters to what happen that day, is beyond believe. (just another prove that when the "powerful" mess up, they will do anything to cover their backs)
Among other dreadful things the one that stands out, for me is, who could the police had the guts to disgrace the souls of the dead children by testing their blood looking for traces of alcohol to afterwards blame the fans for "their dunkness behavior".
I has just a teenager at the time, still living in Portugal. When the news come though, I like anybody else believed the version of the media. Blaming the fans and picture the English people like mindless hooligans.
On that day the police did not only disgrace football fans, but the all country For that is one of the reasons why, the English are so hated around the world.
The families and friends of the fallen, never give up fighting for the truth. Because they knew the truth. They knew their loved ones were not mindless criminals. It took 23 years for them reach the truth. It took them 23 years for clean their names. May their souls rest now in peace.
Myself and all the Benfica fans around the world are also with you...

For the 96 angels ... YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE.
